I am currently a full professor of development and international affairs in the Social Sciences Department at the Lebanese University. I have 12 years of experience in teaching and designing new courses in sociology, economics, human development, and international affairs and conducting research. I also supervised graduate students working toward their master and doctoral degrees, and published many original research and articles. I also worked as the assistant director in the business department at AUL University – kaslik campus, and held the position of manager of Prepress design departments, and supervised the online teaching section at Dar Afkar sarl.

Academic Experience

  • 2010 – Present: Professor at the Lebanese University o             Role: Teaching undergraduate and graduate students (in English, French, and Arabic), designing courses and supervising theses. Teaching introduction to microeconomics, social economy, economic and social development schools of economic thought, International Economy, Social Economy and NGOs, and introduction to human resource management.

 

  • 2013 – 2014: Lecturer at Notre Dame University (NDU) o           Role: Teaching introduction to sociology to undergraduate students.

 

  • 2007 – 2011: Lecturer at Arts Sciences and Technology University – Kaslik campus o         Role: Teaching introduction to microeconomics, management and marketing for undergraduates as well as research techniques in sociology for graduated students. I worked as the assistant director in the business department.

 

  • 2003 – Present: Freelance translator at Screens international o                Role: translating into Arabic specialized documents in various fields (technological, sociological, economic and educational)

 

  • 2000 – 2010: Arabic language teacher teaching Arabic as second language at Dar Afkar sarl o         Role: Actively sharing in teaching Arabic reading and writing skills to English and Spanish-speaking students.

Helped in designing courses and modifying their content and coordinated several online teachers. Edited online Arabic teaching set of books for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels available at www.arabic@home.com. Also worked as an Arabic proofreader for all material published in Arabic.

Published Research 

  • 2004: Impact of the European partnership on the industrial sector in Lebanon

Description: This research paper describes the economic effects the signing of the European partnership had on the Lebanese organizations working in the industrial sector.

Duration: 1 year

  • 2007: Investment atmosphere in Lebanon after the civil war

Description: Research written in Arabic to earn the PhD in human development and international relations. This study reviewed the different social and economic facets that shaped the investment atmosphere of Lebanon and the reconstruction policy applied after the end of the civil war.

Duration: 3 years

  • 2010: Business Women in Lebanon

Description: A published research based on a field study and funded by the Lebanese University. This research written in Arabic describes the profile and fields of work of business women in Lebanon.

Duration: 2 years 

  • 2012: Leadership style of the women entrepreneurs in Lebanon

 Description: This published research written in Arabic studies the leadership style of Arab women entrepreneurs and follows it with a field study of the Lebanese women entrepreneurs. It aimed to compare their leadership style with that of western women entrepreneurs. 

Duration: 1 year 

  • 2013: The mirage of development: filling up an ever-deepening abyss 

Description: A paper published in English in the periodical magazine of sociology of the Lebanese University. It discusses the failures on the part of the international institutions in helping the developing nations out of their social and economic problems.

Duration: 3 months 

  • 2014: Corporate Social Responsibility of the banking system in Lebanon

Description: This published research written in Arabic and funded by the Lebanese University studies the case of seven leading financial institutions in the Lebanese banking system and their contribution to corporate social responsibility. 

Duration: 1 year 

  • 2016: La responsabilité sociale des entreprises: un concept évolutif et controversé 

Description: A research paper in French on the evolution of the CSR concept and theories underlying social responsibilities of organizations. This paper was published in the magazine of sociology of the Lebanese University. 

Duration: 3 months 

  • 2017: The problems of sustainable development in the Arab world 

Description: This research was published in Arabic. It discusses social and economic issues hindering the progress of Arab nations toward a true sustainable development. 

Duration: 1 year

Personal Skills 

Speak and write fluently Arabic (native) English (very fluent) and French (very fluent) as well as very little Spanish, and have an excellent knowledge of Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), InDesign, and Photoshop, and have a basic knowledge of Access. I can type Arabic (75 words for minute) and English (60 words per minute). I can also teach online courses, and I run my own website for my students' convenience, for an easy access to my courses, evaluation test questions, practice questions, and sample exams.
